Meet Dr. DeAngelo
As an orthodontist, it is an honor to work one-to-one with the great people in our community, helping each attain the beautiful, healthy smile they deserve.
I appreciate the opportunity to get to know my patients as people, and helping them through a process that is not always easy but is always rewarding. Our conversations enrich my life, as I learn about their experiences and dreams; I hope, when treatment is finished, each person feels I have enriched their life, as well, by using my professional skills to make their world better, with a healthier, more confident smile leading the way.
I truly cannot imagine a more rewarding career: It feels great to spend my days helping people!
Education and Experience
My father, Dr. Dante DeAngelo, started this practice in 1964. I grew up seeing how he enjoyed what he did, and witnessing the positive changes in his patients’ lives. I was drawn to the profession as a way of serving our community and making people’s lives better.
I grew up in Canfield, went to school at St. Charles in Boardman, and graduated from Cardinal Mooney High School in 1979. I went on to receive three degrees, plus my orthodontics training, at The Ohio State University:
- Bachelor of Science in biology
- Doctorate of Dental Surgery
- Master of Science in orofacial biology
- Certificate in orthodontics
Between dental school and my orthodontic residency, I spent eight wonderful years working alongside and learning from my father and his partner in the practice, Dr. Don Centofante.
After completing my three-year orthodontic residency and master’s degree, I returned to this office. My father retired in 1999 and Dr. Centofante retired in 2001; now, I am proud to continue offering personalized, high-quality orthodontics to our community.
Continuing Education and Professional Activities
Lifelong learning is critical if I am to provide our community with the advanced, effective orthodontic treatment everyone deserves.
Through ongoing continuing education, completed locally, regionally, and nationally, I learn from researchers and practitioners in the specialty. This keeps me current with the latest treatments, philosophies, and technology, so I’m able to provide state-of-the-art care.
I am an active member of numerous professional organizations, and have had the honor to serve in leadership positions for many of them:
- American Association of Orthodontists
- Ohio Association of Orthodontists (past president)
- Cleveland Society of Orthodontists (past president)
- American Dental Association
- Ohio Dental Association
- Corydon Palmer Dental Society (past president)
- The Ohio State University Orthodontic Alumni Foundation (past president)
Beyond Orthodontics
I have been blessed with a wonderful wife, Jacque; three lovely daughters, Jessica, Danielle, and Jean; and three great sons-in-law, Stephen, Matthew, and James. Time with them, our wider family, and friends is a priority when I’m not in the office.
I like being outdoors, especially golfing, boating, and hiking, and am a sports fan with a passion for Ohio State Buckeyes football. I also enjoy many activities with the local dental society, in the community, and with our church.
